Garden view in Ryokan Yamazaki

Very charming little Izakaya, a bit far from everything, but the bus can get you wherever you want.

Restaurant/places to eat in Ryokan Yamazaki

The Lady that welcomed us was really nice to us and showed us where everything was. The staff can speak english well enough so that we had no troubles even though our japanese is seriously lacking. The breakfast was an amazing experience, tasting great and actually more than we could eat.

The atmosphere was nice, the garden was very pretty, and the bathhouse was nice. The staff are also very kind, the cleaning ladies were especially wonderful, they were very helpful several times!

Food in Ryokan Yamazaki

I was traveling together with a friend and she preferred to book a place a bit outside of the city. The place is still very accessible by bus (stop is almost in front of the house), or even the tram if (you don’t mind a 15 minutes walk). The staff was very kind and welcoming and you will easily get along with English, if you don’t speak Japanese. The rooms were tidy and comfortable and would also recommend to take the Japanese breakfast in the house. Cannot judge the dinner since we usually returned late and ate somewhere else. Highly recommend the ryokan!

Our favorite hotel we stayed in during our trip to Japan. We dreamt of a Ryokan and we got exactly what we had in mind : peace, comfort and a bit of nature.

Facade/entrance in Ryokan Yamazaki

A quiet and super clean spot—perfect for a break from the busy Kyoto vibe. Great value overall, and the unagi at the restaurant was seriously good. There’s a cute little town nearby that’s perfect for an evening walk, and a lovely café with amazing almond chocolate logs. Would definitely stay again!

Restaurant/places to eat in Ryokan Yamazaki

After the hustle and bustle that Tokyo offers, we wanted to escape the city life and experience the quiet side of Japan. This was the perfect place. This traditional ryokan is in the country side within 10-15 minutes from Arashiyama's bamboo forest. It was everything we wanted and more, especially the garden.

The Ryokan was lovely to stay in. It was a little further out from Kyoto's centre but we enjoyed the quiet. We opted in for a room upgrade when arrived and checked in. The staff was very accommodating and friendly.
